updated dead.net!?! |
I just checked dead.net and it has the longstanding "pardon our mess" front page and I was wondering if anyone had any news regarding the launch of the updated site.

Re: updated dead.net!?! |
I (Cliff) have been calling their (GD Merchandise) customer service, because I want to order the 7 disc box set (Vault I, II & III with bonus disc and DP Book). I knew much more than who I spoke with (not much), and I was told (after pressing), that they were having a meeting on Monday (so expect something early next week).

Sounds like the more things change, the more they seem the same.

thanks Cliff!!!
I am trying not to get my hopes up and expect too much but it would be nice if they came through in a positive way.

Re: updated dead.net!?! |
Re-remasters of vaults I & II will be boxed with III + a bonus disc from 8/24/68 and a Latvala notebook on DPicks.
It has not been offered as a pre-order yet (as far as know)

Re: updated dead.net!?! |
No, it isnt 8/24/68, but I read in an earlyer post (Tigerbolt?) that the bonus disc was somehow part of Vault II re-issue, someone msy have suggested Alligator/Caution from 8/23?

Re: updated dead.net!?! |
I'm pretty sure the still unreleased TOO, DS>SS>E>DDHNM from 8-23 would all fit on one disc. If they did that, then every track from 8-23 and 8-24 on db.etree would be out in commercial release (incl the A>C on the Anthem reissue). I'd love to see another commercially released DDHNM--hope that's what they do. We'll find out soon.

Re: updated dead.net!?! |
So I looked at the tech crunch again this AM and found a link in the comments section for a marketing blurb:
http://www.marketingblurb.com/2007/06/online_social_networking_even.html
Not much news on the site, but I found this comment a tad amusing:
"In fact, the unique marketing strategies of this band never cease to amaze me. Their marketing is usually well thought out and fits seamlessly with the Grateful Dead brand image fans expect."
Suffice it to say, the writer is not, as my 4-yr old niece says, a grateful deadhead.

Re: updated dead.net!?! |
EXACTLY, the 24-hours is what I was going by.
Hopefully it is just a last minute glitch and not that they just have fancy mock-ups of a "future" site with nothing being changed.
Though I have begun looking at some of the mp3's on dead.net but I have become too much a show guy to really enjoy them. I really love hearing the progression through a show, the going back-and-forth between bobby and jerry and the exciting part of hearing all the up's and down's and in the end seeing if they were successfull or not.

Re: updated dead.net!?! |
We were talking about this a few days ago. Click on Taper's Section where David Lemieux has started a weekly series of links to streams of songs from shows that were performed during each of those weeks in Grateful Dead history. I listened to several of them that night, and they all sounded excellent. Those that are included which he feels are not pristine recordings are described as such and have been placed among the rest for their historic significance, the strength of the performance, or other reasons that warrant their addition to the collection he is presenting. I enjoyed it very much.
